How to get to Matera

Getting to Matera from the main Italian and European airports has never been so easy: the shuttle bus service from the Bari International airport (about 50 minutes drive from Matera) will be enhanced very soon and, thanks to an agreement between the city of Matera, the Bari airport and the airline company Ryan Air, in the near future it will also be possible to buy flight tickets to Matera (with the 1-hour bus journey from the Bari airport to Matera included).

As soon as the new 4-lane State Road Bari-Matera will be completed (with the Altamura-Matera stretch being already in use), visitors will be able to reach Matera from the Bari airport in a heartbeat.
Besides, a brand new airport is going to be built near Pisticci Scalo (see the map).
